I like dried cranberries. It is my “go to” sugar craving fix. I like them with my oats, I like them in my smoothies. Not an everyday thing, but a treat. I still like to read the labels, even on the treats, and above all I love a good deal.
And this is how I discovered that you can actually find better deals in a Pound Shop (for those out of the UK – this is a shop where everything costs one pound), than a health shop.
Just to make sure you can really see here is the ingredients list:
sugar (70%), dried cranberries (25%), citric acid, elderberry juice concentrate, vegetable oil.
Should these not be called “dried sugar cranberry flavoured candies”??? Seriously! And let me remind you – they came from a healthy food store.
Cranberries (61%), sugar, acidity regulator, citric acid, sunflower oil, elderberry juice concentrate.
Not ideal still, but at least the cranberries are the main ingredient.
I once had a pack of dried cranberries, with 97% fruit and I cant remember where they came from. Any suggestions – welcome. And read your labels. Even in the health food shop.
